Urban Therapy IV
2017

For late-night warehouse event, Urban Therapy, I designed a series of holistic marketing materials: cover photos, teaser imagery, motion visuals, and a poster. The illustrations are inspired by cloth or flesh being cut in half. Through my research, I discovered that internationally, graphic designers have leaned towards using feudal Japanese imagery (samurai, woodblock prints, ninjas, etc.) to describe headliner Goth Trad. Wanting to move away from any stereotyping, I instead envisioned material being cut by a naginata, a Japanese spear used in sweeping, dance-like motions.
